Is There An Industry Standard For Waste Of Slabs In Layout?
- Jul 31, 2017 -

There is no published industry standard, although perhaps the most common figure that we have heard from those with accurate production materials tracking is in the neighborhood of 60% yield (40% waste). Obviously, this is highly variable. When cutting small pieces from very uniform materials, the yield is going to be higher, and when cutting large and/or directionally specific pieces from heavily veined or significantly flawed materials, the yield will be much lower.
